Nearly a year to the day sports was suspended and shut down due to the Coronavirus, some teams were back in action. Fall skills and conditioning started on March 10th, in Jaguar Nation with Cross Country, Football and Volleyball taking part in workouts.
Students were required to register and submit medical forms to qualify for participation. Students had to check in and complete a daily screening prior to each session. Teams were also required to follow protocols that include training in PODS of 10 or less, wearing masks, taking breaks for sanitizing, and maintaining social distancing as much as possible.
Enora Tamdem a returning Volleyball player said, “It’s been really good to come back and bond with everyone. I didn’t realize how much I needed volleyball to help give me an outlet, exercising and doing something we love. I am really looking forward to next year.”
“I expect more teams to begin their sessions in week two and look forward to seeing more students participate. It was great seeing the excitement in their eyes as they were able to return to some activity and outlet they’ve been missing for a long time.” said Athletic Director Carl Rose.
Fall sports include the aforementioned Cross Country, Football, Volleyball, as well as Soccer and Cheerleading.
