Program Information

General Information: 

Charles Herbert Flowers High School opened in August, 2000. It was the first newly constructed high school in Prince George’s County since Eleanor Roosevelt opened in 1976. Since then the school and athletic programs have represented the community, district and state as one of the finest high schools in the region. Boasting several academic specialty programs, clubs and organizations, and sports teams that have won numerous awards. 

We are the “Mecca of Excellence” coined by our inaugural Principal Helena Nobles-Jones. Dr. Gorman Brown’s leadership has continued the quest to serve students and provide them with opportunities for success. 

We offer 29 teams for students to choose from, 21 Varsity sports and 8 Junior Varsity sports 

Varsity teams include; Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, Football, Volleyball, Cross Country, Golf, Corollary Softball. Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Swimming, Indoor Track, Wrestling, Bocce Ball,Baseball, Softball, Tennis, Boys Track, Girls Track, Girls Lacrosse, Boys Lacrosse, Unified Track 

Junior Varsity teams Include; JV Boys Soccer, JV Girls Soccer, JV Volleyball, JV Football JV Boys Basketball, JV Girls Basketball JV Baseball, JV Softball 

Participation

Our teams participate as part of the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association in the district of Prince George’s. We are a 4A Classification school which places us in the largest classification as Maryland is divided into 4 classifications based on population. 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A. 

History

Our teams have been competitive locally as well as in the region. They have earned numerous league and regional honors, individual state titles and many athletes went on to compete on the collegiate level. A few have teams earned the coveted honor of being a State Champion.
